Detailed Review
The Chapin 89400C TurfPro 100 lb Lawn Spreader is a heavy-duty broadcast spreader built for residential grounds care and contractor applications. Built around a green poly hopper, it holds up to 100 pounds of fertilizer, pest control, or lawn seed, allowing users to treat large turf areas without frequent stops.
Material flow and distribution are handled by several integrated components. The Slide Adjust Lever lets you dial in the gate opening to match the specific particulate size of your seed or granular treatment. Inside the hopper, a cast, zinc-plated agitator continuously breaks up clumps to prevent clogs, while a directional control system helps direct the output pattern where it is needed.
Durability and mobility are centered around commercial-grade materials. The chassis uses a stainless steel frame, axle, and gate link arm for weather resistance. Movement across uneven lawns and rough ground is stabilized by 12-inch pneumatic tires with wide tread. The drive system relies on enclosed metal alloy gears equipped with a grease fitting for routine maintenance.
For operator comfort, the spreader features an ergonomic T-shaped handle outfitted with rubber grips, accommodating hands with or without work gloves. One full hopper covers approximately 22,000 square feet, reducing refill downtime during large projects.
Verdict: The Chapin 89400C TurfPro is well-suited for property owners and landscape contractors who need a rugged, high-capacity spreader built with stainless steel framing and pneumatic tires. It offers precise application controls for handling seed, fertilizer, and pest treatments over extensive grounds.
