Buyers Products SaltDogg WB400 Walk Behind Drop Spreader, 2.5 cu ft Poly

The SaltDogg WB400 Walk Behind Drop Spreader is designed for property managers and homeowners who need direct, controlled ice melt application along sidewalks and driveways. Its low-to-the-ground drop mechanism releases material directly beneath the unit, preventing stray salt from scattering into sensitive foliage along the edges of walkways.

Built with a 2.5 cubic foot corrosion-free poly hopper, the unit handles up to 200 pounds of bagged salt or ice melt at once. The stainless steel frame, trough, and agitator provide long-term resilience against corrosive materials, while nylon bushings and the internal agitator maintain a smooth flow. A 44-inch profile allows you to treat standard paths in a single pass.

Flow control is managed through a solid linkage lever, giving you the ability to fine-tune material output depending on ground conditions. An included hopper screen blocks clumps to reduce jams, and 13-inch pneumatic tires keep the spreader balanced on rough or uneven ground. The unit ships 90 percent assembled and comes with a plastic rain cover to keep dry materials protected during storage.

Because this is a dedicated drop spreader with a fixed 44-inch width, it does not throw material outward like a broadcast spreader. Buyers looking to cover expansive parking lots or open yards quickly may find the drop style too focused for wide-open areas.

Verdict: The SaltDogg WB400 is a reliable, high-capacity choice for anyone maintaining walkways, driveways, or commercial facility paths. If you need precise salt placement without damaging adjacent lawn or garden borders, this durable drop spreader is well suited for the job.
