CHAPIN 8622B TurfPro Tow-Behind Turf Spreader, Auto-Stop, Dual Impeller

The Chapin 8622B TurfPro Tow-Behind Turf Spreader is designed for property owners who need to distribute seed and fertilizer across expansive lawns, fields, and acreage. By hitching directly to a compatible tractor or utility vehicle, it simplifies large-scale spreading tasks without requiring manual pushing across extensive acreage.

To help you maintain controlled application, the spreader utilizes dual impellers alongside 11 distinct gate settings. This setup allows you to adjust product flow precisely based on the specific granules you are distributing. An integrated auto-stop mechanism automatically halts the flow whenever the vehicle stops moving, preventing concentrated piles of fertilizer or seed from dumping in one spot.

The unit is built around a powder-coated steel frame fitted with enclosed bearings and 14-inch wide-tread pneumatic tires. These components work together to provide steady roll and stable traction across uneven agricultural ground. It connects to compatible ATVs, UTVs, and lawn tractors via a standard hitch for fast setup.

There are clear operational limits to keep in mind before hooking it up. The spreader has a maximum working speed of 3.5 mph and should not be towed behind zero-turn mowers. Additionally, the manufacturer notes that it cannot be used with rock salt, sand, sand mixes, pelletized lime, or lime powders, and the hopper must not be overfilled.

Verdict: If you maintain acreage with an ATV, UTV, or lawn tractor and need consistent application of standard seed and fertilizer, the Chapin 8622B provides great distribution control and rugged ground stability.
