Detailed Review
The Coast XPH34R is a high-output headlamp built for users who need dependable illumination in demanding environments. Delivering up to 2700 lumens, it easily lights up broad work areas or distant targets up to 295 meters away. Its combination of wearable comfort and handheld utility makes it a versatile lighting option for work sites and outdoor activities.
Optical versatility is a central strength thanks to the Pure Beam twist focus mechanism. You can rotate the bezel to move between an Ultra View Flood beam for broad, edge-to-edge clarity and a Bulls-Eye Spot beam that projects focused light with a transitional halo. This allows quick adjustments from close-up tasks to long-range spotting without awkward hot spots.
The physical design adds extra utility through a detachable aluminum body. The light rolls inside its bracket for dynamic directional aiming, but you can also pull it out to use as an independent flashlight. A built-in magnetic tail cap lets you mount the light to metallic surfaces for hands-free work, while the real-time power indicator and USB-C port simplify battery management.
When considering trade-offs, note that the top specs reflect maximum potential. Running the headlamp at the full 2700-lumen output will yield significantly less operating time than the stated 120-hour maximum runtime. Additionally, while the IP54 dust and water resistance handles storm conditions, drop protection is rated to 1 meter.
Verdict: The Coast XPH34R is an excellent choice for anyone who needs powerful, adaptable lighting with multiple hands-free options. Its durable aluminum build, magnetic mount, and lifetime warranty make it a reliable companion for tough jobs.
