Fiskars 24” Bow Saw SW31, Fixed blade, Length: 70 cm, Plastic blade

The Fiskars 24-inch Bow Saw SW31 is a manual cutting tool built specifically for handling logs and large branches. Designed for soft wood tasks, it offers a practical, hand-powered solution for yard clearing and wood management without relying on power cords or fuel.

The cutting system features a high-quality steel blade equipped with special teeth that cut on both the push and pull strokes. This dual-action cutting action delivers clean cuts while maintaining steady progress through thicker wood. The frame incorporates an ergonomic plastic handle with an integrated finger guard, giving both left-handed and right-handed users a comfortable, controlled grip during heavy sawing.

At 700 grams with a total length of 70 cm, the saw balances reach with manageable handling. Maintenance is straightforward, as the tool supports easy blade replacement using reference number 1001707. When the work is done, the included plastic blade guard snaps over the steel blade for safe, protected storage.

As a fixed-frame bow saw spanning 70 cm, it does require dedicated storage space in a shed or garage compared to compact folding saws. It is also tailored specifically for soft wood and logs rather than seasoned hardwoods or fine carpentry tasks.

Verdict: The Fiskars SW31 is a reliable, ambidextrous cutting tool for homeowners and property caretakers who regularly cut soft wood logs and large branches. Its push-pull tooth design, integrated hand protection, and replaceable blade make it a solid choice for routine outdoor wood cutting.
