Detailed Review
The Garvee 130LBS Tow Behind Broadcast Spreader is designed for homeowners, hobby gardeners, and small farm owners looking to cover large outdoor areas quickly. By handling granular materials like grass seed, fertilizer, herbicide, and ice melt salt, it eliminates the repetitive effort of hand casting while speeding up property maintenance across all four seasons.
Capacity and coverage are the standout elements of this model. The 130-pound hopper holds full bags of material to drastically cut down on trips back to the shed for refills. It distributes material across a 10-foot wide spread pattern and offers 20 adjustable flow settings, allowing you to dial in specific application rates to avoid uneven coverage, bare spots, or over-application.
For durability over tough terrain, the spreader features a powder-coated steel frame paired with corrosion-resistant aluminum gears. Large 13-inch pneumatic tires roll easily across uneven ground, gravel driveways, dirt, and snow. It also offers flexible utility by working as a tow-behind attachment for most garden tractors, UTVs, and ATVs, or as a manual push unit. The hopper design helps prevent clogging to ensure steady flow, and assembly is completely tool-free.
As for trade-offs, managing a fully loaded 130-pound hopper can be heavy if you choose to push it manually across rough ground rather than towing it. While the unit fits in standard garages and sheds, its sizable hopper and frame naturally take up more storage footprint than compact hand-held spreaders.
Verdict: The Garvee Broadcast Spreader is a versatile, high-capacity tool ideal for anyone maintaining yards, driveways, or small acreage with a lawn tractor or ATV. Its durable frame, pneumatic tires, and wide flow control make large-scale seasonal spreading straightforward and efficient.
