Detailed Review
The Yard Commander 80 LB ATV/UTV Broadcast Spreader mounts directly to your utility vehicle to distribute seed, fertilizer, ice melt, and feed without manual pushing. Designed for all-season use, it tackles lawn care in the spring, deer feed in the fall, and salt distribution throughout the winter. Its 12-volt motor powers a broad distribution pattern that can deliver up to a 12-foot spread radius.
Operational convenience is a major focus of the design. The unit features quick mounting hardware compatible with either front or rear utility racks. An on/off switch mounts straight to your vehicle handlebars, allowing you to engage or stop the motor without taking your hands away from steering. An easy-to-reach adjustment handle lets you fine-tune the drop rate to achieve consistent coverage across your property.
To withstand abrasive and corrosive materials like salt and chemical fertilizer, the spreader is built with a powder-coated steel frame, a corrosion-resistant hopper, and a vinyl-coated 12-volt motor. It also includes a fitted rain cover, which keeps moisture out of the hopper during wet weather to prevent your materials from clumping together during use.
Keep in mind that while the hopper supports up to 80 pounds, the actual volume capacity will vary depending on the density and type of material you load. The unit also requires an existing ATV or UTV utility rack and a 12-volt power connection to operate, meaning it is not suited for walk-behind tasks or vehicles without compatible rack setups.
Verdict: The Yard Commander 80 LB Spreader is a practical, durable choice for ATV and UTV owners who need a year-round broadcasting tool for seed, fertilizer, or ice melt. Its handlebar control switch, protective rain cover, and corrosion-resistant build make it a capable addition to any utility vehicle.
