Honda HRX-BE 21-Inch Walk Behind Battery Powered Lawn Mower (HRX217YXBEXA6)

The HRX-BE 21-Inch Walk Behind Battery Powered Lawn Mower brings cordless electric convenience to yard care while delivering the steady torque needed to power through tough grass. Designed for homeowners seeking a capable walk-behind machine, it combines a self-propelled electric transmission with versatile deck management to handle standard mowing, heavy growth, or seasonal cleanup.

Daily operation is straightforward thanks to the 4-in-1 Versamow system with Clip Director, which allows you to mulch, bag, discharge, or shred leaves without stopping to install add-on parts. The MicroCut twin-blade setup uses four cutting edges to chop clippings into ultra-fine pieces, making mulching cleaner and maximizing space inside the included 2.2-bushel grass bag. For personal comfort, the e-Select Drive system lets you adjust your walking speed from 0 to 4 mph using push-button controls, while dual levers let you select among seven cut heights spanning 0.75 to 4 inches.

Power management is centered around an included 12Ah lithium-ion battery that delivers up to 45 minutes of run time, or roughly 0.37 acre of coverage per charge. The deck features two battery bays, meaning you can drop in a second pack to double your working time. Integrated safety measures include a blade control lever with a dedicated safety button, a rear shield, a discharge guard, and an automatic shutoff that triggers if the motor overloads or sits idle for three minutes.

A notable trade-off is that larger properties will require purchasing an additional battery, as only one 12Ah pack comes in the box. The standard 2A charger will also require planning ahead between mowing sessions. However, the machine is backed by nationwide parts support, a 5-year residential warranty, and a 90-day commercial warranty.

Verdict: The HRX-BE is an excellent choice for homeowners with lawns up to a third of an acre who want push-button speed control, multi-mode mowing versatility, and long-term warranty support without dealing with gas maintenance.
