Polaris ERA 842 Smart Robotic Pool Cleaner, Corded

Polaris ERA 842 is a corded robotic pool cleaner built for buyers who want automated floor and wall cleaning with app based control. Its strongest appeal is the combination of cleaning coverage, remote controls, and a retrieval system designed to make the end of a cleaning cycle less cumbersome. It is intended for inground pools and is positioned to clean across any inground pool surface.

The cleaning system brings several functions together rather than relying on suction alone. Front and back scrubbing brushes work with dual traction motors and Cyclonic Vacuum Technology to capture dirt while supporting suction and wall climbing. For a shopper, that means the machine is designed to handle both loose debris and the physical task of scrubbing as it moves across the pool floor and walls.

The app adds another layer of convenience. From the app, you can set a cleaning schedule, start or stop a cycle, view the cycle timer, and choose between Floor and Floor/Wall cleaning modes. It also provides Easy Lift retrieval and troubleshooting, so several routine controls are gathered in one place instead of requiring each function to be handled at the cleaner.

Removal and cleanup are also central to the design. Easy Lift drives the cleaner to the waterline and drains water so it can be removed more easily. The large capacity debris canister is designed for longer cleaning sessions, then opens for straightforward emptying by removing it, shaking out debris, and spraying it clean. The included transport caddy helps move the cleaner, while the protective cover provides a way to shield it from the elements when it is stored.

The main trade off is the corded design, so this is a powered robotic cleaner rather than a battery powered option. Its app offers two cleaning modes, Floor and Floor/Wall, rather than a long list of specialized programs. Verdict: This is a strong fit for an inground pool owner who values automated floor and wall cleaning, app controls, and easier retrieval and cleanup. Look elsewhere if a battery powered pool cleaner or a different set of cleaning modes is more important to you.

A great fit if you:

• Want to manage cleaning schedules and cycles from an app instead of relying only on controls on the machine.
• Need one cleaner for both pool floor and wall cleaning across an inground pool surface.
• Prefer a debris canister that can be removed, shaken out, and sprayed clean after a session.
• Want an easier way to retrieve the cleaner from the waterline when cleaning is finished.
• Value having a transport caddy and protective cover included with the cleaner.

Consider something else if you:

• You specifically want a battery powered version rather than a corded robotic pool cleaner.
• You need cleaning programs beyond floor and floor plus wall modes, so a more versatile model may suit you better.

Confirm on the listing:

• Check that your pool is an inground pool and that the listed compatibility with inground pool surfaces matches your pool.
• Check the cleaner's exact physical dimensions and make sure its storage and movement arrangements work for your space.
• Confirm exactly what is included in the box, including the caddy, protective cover, and any other supplied components.
• Review the power requirements and cord arrangement on the listing so the corded design fits your intended setup.

How to compare your options: Focus on the cleaning coverage, control method, retrieval process, debris handling, and included storage or transport accessories. This model stands out for floor and wall cleaning, app control, Easy Lift retrieval, a large capacity debris canister, and an included caddy and cover. If one of those features is especially important to you, compare options on that specific function rather than on marketing language.

• Use the app to choose the cleaning mode that matches the job you want the cleaner to perform, either Floor or Floor/Wall.
• Set a cleaning schedule in the app if recurring cleaning fits your routine, and use the cycle controls when you want to start or stop cleaning directly.
• Use Easy Lift retrieval when removing the cleaner so it travels to the waterline and drains water before you take it out.
• Empty the debris canister after cleaning by removing it, shaking out the collected debris, and spraying it clean as designed.
• Keep the cleaner with its transport caddy and protective cover when moving or storing it, and use the app's troubleshooting function when you need help with an issue.
