Greenworks 40V 12 in Cordless Electric Chainsaw, 2.0 Ah Battery and Charger

The Greenworks 40V 12-inch Cordless Electric Chainsaw provides a lightweight cutting solution for yard cleanup, pruning, and emergency storm recovery. Powered by an included 2.0 Ah battery, this cordless saw delivers the freedom to cut anywhere without handling fuel or extension cords.

For routine maintenance, the 12-inch low-recoil bar and chain deliver up to 50 cuts through 4x4-inch treated wood per charge. An integrated auto-oiler maintains chain lubrication to extend its working life, while the tool-free auto-tensioning mechanism allows you to tighten the chain quickly without needing any extra wrenches. Safety is handled by a dual safety start mechanism featuring both a lock and a trigger to avoid accidental activation.

Portability is a central highlight, as the entire unit weighs just 6 pounds (2.7 kg) and features a comfortable wrapped grip. Beyond running the saw, the 40V 2.0 Ah battery functions as a portable power bank capable of charging devices like phones and iPads. The battery also shares compatibility across the wider Greenworks 40V tool platform, supported by a 3-year tool and battery warranty.

Because this model uses a 12-inch bar and a compact 2.0 Ah battery, it is intended for trimming, camping, and smaller logs rather than large-scale tree felling. The data does not list the specific oil reservoir capacity or charger speed, so heavy users may need to monitor bar oil frequently.

Verdict: This cordless saw is an excellent choice for homeowners and campers who want an ultra-lightweight, easy-to-maintain tool for light yard pruning and storm cleanup.
