Husqvarna MZ61 (61") 24HP Kawasaki Zero Turn Lawn Mower w/ROPS

The Husqvarna MZ61 is a full-size residential zero turn mower built for property owners who manage genuinely large lawns and want to get the job done efficiently. With a 61-inch cutting deck and a commercial-leaning drivetrain, it sits near the top of what a homeowner would realistically need, making it most relevant for estates, acreages or anyone tired of spending half a day behind a smaller machine.

Power comes from a Kawasaki FR730V Series V-Twin engine displacing 726cc and rated at 24 horsepower. That combination is well-suited to thick grass, slight inclines and extended run times. The 5-gallon fuel tank complements this by reducing how often you need to stop and refuel during a long session, which matters when you are covering a lot of ground. The 61-inch, 3-blade fabricated deck is designed to handle that power and deliver a consistent cut across a wide path, so each pass covers more territory than a typical residential deck would.

The Hydro Gear ZT-3100 transmission is a commercial-grade hydrostatic unit, which means the speed and directional control it provides is smoother and more precise than what you find on basic residential transmissions. For a zero turn mower, the quality of the transmission directly affects how easy the machine is to maneuver around trees, garden beds and other obstacles. The rollover protection structure (ROPS) is included as standard equipment, a practical safety addition for anyone operating on uneven ground.

A few trade-offs are worth noting. The 61-inch deck makes this a poor fit for narrow gates or compact yards where maneuverability is limited. The listing does not specify cutting height range, deck wash ports or seat type, so shoppers who care about those details will need to verify them separately. As a gasoline-powered machine, it also requires routine engine maintenance that electric alternatives do not. The price reflects the commercial-grade components and warranty coverage, so it is a significant investment compared to lighter-duty options.

Verdict: The MZ61 is a strong choice for homeowners with large open properties who want a durable, powerful machine backed by a meaningful warranty. If your lawn is modest in size or your budget is tight, a smaller or simpler mower will serve you better.

• Engine: Kawasaki FR730V Series V-Twin, 24HP, 726cc
• Cutting Deck: 61 inches, fabricated, 3-blade
• Transmission: Hydro Gear ZT-3100 Commercial Grade Hydrostatic
• Fuel Capacity: 5 gallons
• Safety: ROPS (Rollover Protection Structure) included
• Warranty: 4-year consumer warranty

A great fit if you:

• Maintain a large property where a wide 61-inch deck will meaningfully cut down mowing time
• Want a commercial-grade transmission for precise, responsive maneuvering around obstacles
• Value a long warranty period and are willing to invest accordingly in a machine built to that standard
• Operate on terrain where rollover protection is a practical concern

Consider something else if you:

• Have a smaller yard or narrow gate openings that a 61-inch deck cannot navigate comfortably
• Are looking for a lower-cost entry point into zero turn mowing and do not need this level of engine or transmission
