Detailed Review
The Sun Joe SJH904E is a convertible corded electric hedge trimmer designed for property owners managing both ground-level shrubs and tall, out-of-reach bushes. It solves the challenge of trimming high branches without constantly repositioning a ladder by combining a handheld cutting tool with an adjustable telescoping extension pole.
Its 2-in-1 design stands out for quick adaptability. You can use it as a standard handheld trimmer for close-up shaping, or attach the pole in seconds to tackle taller growth. The telescoping pole adjusts between 3.8 and 5.9 feet, which provides up to 12 feet of overhead reach for high hedges. At 9.5 pounds, the entire setup remains manageable during extended yard work.
Cutting performance comes from a 4.5-amp motor driving 19-inch dual-action blades. The dual-blade construction delivers fast cuts on thicker branches while helping dampen vibration, giving you steady control while trimming over fences or reaching upward into deep shrubbery.
Because this model is corded, your work area is tethered to a nearby power outlet and suitable extension cord. The product details also omit the exact maximum branch thickness capacity, so heavy-duty limb clearing may require separate tools.
Verdict: The Sun Joe SJH904E is a practical choice for homeowners who need a versatile, lightweight trimmer for both low bushes and tall hedges. If you want high overhead reach without balancing on ladders and prefer continuous corded electric power, this tool fits the bill.
