BLACK+DECKER 40V MAX 13 in String Trimmer Edger Cordless with Adjustable Telescoping

This 13-inch cordless string trimmer and edger combines routine trimming and border edging into a single battery-powered tool. Powered by a 40V Max lithium-ion platform, it gives homeowners a way to maintain lawn borders and clear overgrown weeds without dealing with extension cords or mixing fuel. The tool is geared toward regular residential yard maintenance where quick adjustments and flexible power settings are needed.

A built-in PowerCommand dial lets you alternate between high power for cutting dense patches and lower power to conserve battery life over large lawns. The PowerDrive transmission directs torque from the motor to the cutting string, running at speeds up to 8500 RPM. In addition, the Automatic Feed Spool (AFS) automatically advances fresh line when required, removing the need to bump the head against the ground during trimming passes.

Switching tasks is straightforward, as the head rotates from a grass trimmer into a lawn edger in seconds. User comfort is supported by an adjustable telescoping shaft and a soft-grip auxiliary handle, allowing you to tailor the working height. The included 40V 2.0Ah battery features an integrated state of charge indicator so you can check remaining power levels, and the kit includes a fast charger that refills the pack in 2 hours or less.

As with any cordless lawn tool, runtime depends on your settings and workload. While the dial helps manage battery consumption, demanding tasks on high-power mode will draw down the single 2.0Ah battery more quickly. The system uses a specific AF 100 replacement spool and comes with a single battery pack, so continuous large-property upkeep might require taking breaks to recharge.

Verdict: This versatile 40V trimmer and edger is well suited for homeowners who want clean edges and weed control without corded hassles or manual spool bumping. It offers a solid mix of motor power, fast recharging, and adjustable ergonomics for everyday yard upkeep.
