Detailed Review
The Gerber EXO-MOD Hunting Pack Saw is a dedicated field tool designed to handle bone cutting for hunters, tradesmen, and outdoor enthusiasts. By combining a purpose-built cutting edge with a minimal footprint, it solves the problem of carrying bulky cutting gear into the backcountry without sacrificing fundamental cutting capability.
Construction centers around a 4116 stainless steel blade featuring crosscut saw teeth engineered for efficient cutting. The full tang design is paired with a skeletonized, glass-filled polypropylene handle that provides an ergonomic grip while keeping total weight down to 2.6 ounces. For carry, the included sheath features belt mounting, a dedicated drain hole, and a positive locking mechanism to keep the tool securely stowed on your hip or pack.
Because this saw measures 7.55 inches in overall length, its compact frame is designed specifically for portable pack carry rather than heavy-duty processing of large timber. The specialized teeth are optimized for bone cutting, and the listing does not specify replacement blade options or alternative color variations beyond black.
Verdict: The Gerber EXO-MOD is an excellent choice for hunters and backcountry adventurers who prioritize minimal pack weight and modular carry options. It delivers reliable cutting power in a featherweight package backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
